The Fall Season 3 Wraps Production (And Gillian Anderson posted a pic)

Gillian Anderson posted this today on her twitter:

From Deadline:

The story picks up immediately from the cliffhanger Season 2 finale as the battle between Detective Superintendent Gibson (Anderson) and serial killer Paul Spector (Dornan) heads towards a “terrifying conclusion” in which the rules of their deadly cat-and-mouse game are set to shift again.

New cast members inlcude Krister Henriksson (Wallander), Aidan McArdle (Mr Selfridge), Ruth Bradley (Humans), Aisling Bea (Trollied) and Richard Coyle (Crossbones).

Colin Morgan will also feature as Detective Sergeant Tom Anderson, with series regulars John Lynch, Valene Kane, Stuart Graham, Bronagh Waugh, and Aisling Franciosi also returning.

Cubitt says, “I’ve been on a very exciting journey over the last five years with Stella Gibson and Paul Spector… and I’m thrilled to have recently started filming the third installment of their macabre, obsessive dance of death. Gillian and Jamie have lived and breathed those characters during that time and I’ve been incredibly well-served as both writer and director by their stellar performances. Obviously I don’t want to give anything away about how the third series will end but I can say that I am looking forward to working with both Gillian and Jamie again in the near future!”

The Fall is created, written and directed by Cubitt, and produced by Fables in association with Artist Studio for BBC Two. It’s produced by Gub Neal and Carol Moorhead. Executive producers are Patrick Irwin and Justin Thomson-Glover for Artists Studio, part of Endemol Shine Group, Stephen Wright for BBC Northern Ireland, Cubitt and Anderson.

Season 2 had a series average of 3.3M viewers and 12.5 share, making it one of BBC Two’s highest performing dramas of 2014. The season finale was watched by 3.6M.

Here’s a Season 3 teaser (beware spoilers if you haven’t seen Season 2):

First Look at Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy in Anthropoid

ScreenDaily has gotten a first look at Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy in Anthropoid.

Toby Jones, Harry Lloyd, Bill Milner and Alena Mihulová join Jamie Dornan, Cillian Murphy, Anna Geislerová and Charlotte Le Bon in Sean Ellis’ Second World War thriller.

Principal photography has begun in the Czech Republic on Anthropoid, a Second World War thriller starring Jamie Dornan (50 Shades Of Grey) and Cillian Murphy (Inception) from Metro Manila director Sean Ellis.

New cast members to sign up to the production include Toby Jones (Infamous), Harry Lloyd (The Theory of Everything), Bill Milner (X-Men: First Class, Son of Rambow), Alena Mihulova and Sam Keeley.

They join Dornan, Murphy, Charlotte Le Bon (Yves Saint Laurent) and Anna Geislerová (Something Like Happiness).

The film is based on the true story of two Czech soldiers – played by Dornan and Murphy – sent to assassinate the head of the SS in 1941.

SS General Reinhard Heydrich was second only to Himmler and Hitler in the Third Reich’s hierarchy and main architect for the ‘Final Solution’.

Director Ellis will also handle cinematography and co-wrote the script with Anthony Frewin (Colour Me Kubrick: A True…ish Story).

Ellis said: “This has been a 14-year journey to get Anthropoid to the screen. I’m incredibly proud and happy to finally tell this important story about Czech resistance during World War II.”

Anthropoid is produced by LD Entertainment (Risen, The Grey). ICM Partners packaged the film and will be handling the North American sale with UTA.

Altitude Film Sales is managing international sales.

Jamie Dornan on Playing Anti-Nazi Hero in ‘Anthropoid’

KARLOVY VARY, Czech Republic — “Fifty Shades of Grey” star Jamie Dornan was among the guests at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival Thursday, where he presented his next movie project “Anthropoid,” which begins filming in the Czech Republic next month. He was joined by the movie’s director Sean Ellis, who previously helmed critically-lauded crime drama “Metro Manila.”

Dornan plays Jan Kubis, one of two real-life Czechoslovak resistance fighters who assassinated leading Nazi Reinhard Heydrich, one of the architects of the Holocaust, during World War II. The role of the other assassin involved in the killing, code-named Operation Anthropoid, is to be played by Cillian Murphy.

“These were just normal guys who were fighting for something they fiercely believed in,” Dornan said at a press conference. “A lot of that work, thankfully, is done for me on the page (of the script by Ellis and Anthony Frewin). All the human flaws and all the things that make him a tangible person, the everyman you can relate to are on the page, which is great. They’re heroes in the sense of what they did, but very much on the page you see that they are flawed, and have very human aspects to them that would hinder trying to carry out an exercise like this.”

Dornan contrasted the way he prepared for the role with his approach to the part of serial killer Paul Spector, who he plays in crime series “The Fall.” “There are things about Jan that will make sense to me more personally rather than having to really dig too far. He’s a man with a mission to carry out, and it’s a mission for the right reasons. It’s not someone like Spector who is murdering people just for no good reason… This is murder in a sense, but it’s for a greater good,” he said.

Dornan said that he could relate to Jan’s character, which gave him the motivation to take the role. “You always need a drive in everything you do and a reason to tell the story. As an actor, you’ve got to have something that drives you every day on the set,” he said. “Could there be any stronger drive needed than the opportunity to assassinate someone so horrific? There’s nobody in the world now who can’t see that Heydrich was evil… So to have that, to bring that to work every day, I’m so excited about the idea of having that as my drive.”

The assassination of Heydrich led to brutal reprisals in Czechoslovakia, but Dornan said that in his eyes it was the right thing to do. “Ultimately, I think it sent a very strong message to show that the Czech people were up for a fight and weren’t willing to be treated in that way. For me, I see it as a very heroic act. I think if I was in that position myself, I probably would have done the same thing. I have a strong understanding of why people see it the other way, based on events afterwards, but for me personally, I think they ultimately had to do what they had to do,” he said.

Dornan and Murphy to film WWII thriller in July

Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy are to begin filming the World War II true story thriller Anthropoid on July 13 in Prague.

Two soldiers from Czechoslovakia’s army-in-exile returned to Prague to carry out the mission.

Sean Ellis (Metro Manila) will direct the film, which takes its title from the Allied code-name for the assassination mission.

Ellis co-wrote the script with Anthony Frewin (Colour Me Kubrick: A True…ish Story).

LD Entertainment Boards Jamie Dornan-Cillian Murphy Starrer ‘Anthropoid’

Mickey Liddell’s LD Entertainment has boarded as a financier and producer on Sean Ellis’ Anthropoid, starring Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades Of Grey) and Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders). Also joining the previously announced cast is Charlotte Le Bon (Yves Saint Laurent).

Ellis (Metro Manila) also co-wrote the script with Anthony Frewin (Colour Me Kubrick: A True…ish Story). Principal photography will begin on July 13 in Prague. The film tells the story of how the Allied forces carried out missions during World War II to assassinate Nazi SS-General Reinhard Heydrich.
